New foodie store opening in Athens: “Greece’s Finest Foods” in the lobby of the Electra Metropolis Hotel downtown and in the suburban Avenue Mall’s Sklavenitis supermarket. Hosted by the Greek culinary magazine Gastronomos, this food store is set to stock high-end foodie goods from around Greece, including cheese, wine, and deli goods. There’s a range of olive oils from different Greek regions, including Crete, Halkida, and Thrace, and a selection of luxury goods, including fish roe, eel, and truffles. Highlights include the salty Cretan graviera cheese, aged vinegar from red Santorini wine, and jam from Greek mountain blueberries.
