Love sugar, chocolate, and ultra-Instagrammable sweets? Then you’re in luck—legendary Greek street food stand Jerry’s Sweet Foodtruck just opened its first branch in Athens a few days ago. The stand first opened its doors in the northern Greek city of Thessaloniki several years ago and has since gained a huge following for its crazy, colorful sweets drizzled, sprinkled, and filled to rainbow perfection. Their new outpost in the Athenian suburb of Halandri promises no disappointment. Visitors can pick from a variety of their famed sweets, from ice cream cones to doughnuts to fresh tsoureki (sweet, chewy bread) to sweet burgers (yes, that is a thing).
Their secret lies in the sheer variety of crazy toppings and fillings that you can customize with every treat you pick. Why have a basic doughnut when you can have a doughnut stuffed with cheesecake cream, drizzled in caramel, and sprinkled with little hearts? And don’t get us started on the sweet burgers; between two warm buns made from doughnut dough, you can have the likes of cookies, chocolate sauce, strawberry sauce, and KitKats (a la the Biscuit Burger) or brown-sugar-coated pineapple pieces with cheesecake cream (a la the Hawaiian Burger). And if it’s a very special occasion (like, you know, Tuesday), you can even get a KitKat cake topped with fried dough balls, cookies, sauces, candy bar pieces, and more. Brb, gonna go lose myself in a box of chocolate-stuffed tsoureki and never find my way out.
